Happy New year to all and may your lives be blessed with good music. I watched part of VH1's reporting of the Top 100 Hard Rock songs ever and thought I would try to put mine together. What a mine field. Will be very interested in people's comments.
You know things are quiet at Brewster By The Sea and on Cape Cod when I spend valuable time reliving the past. It would be fun to get all of these "top 100's" (pop, rock, hard rock, etc), on video and watch them on a quiet winter day as part of your Bed and Breakfast getaway special
I think the numbering is impossible to do from an individual point of view and derives mostly from the VH1 poll type ranking as well as two other people's rankings. The second person added King Crimson and that surely dates them into the same era as myself and for that, a big thank you. A lot of the songs past 120 are too modern for me and I did not really know.

Took 3 separate top 100, did a rough 1 to 5 ranking to get what I thought were the best at the top, the unknown or not liked to the bottom, kept the other peoples absolute numbers, then sorted by my 1 to 5 system followed by VH1's ranking and the other rankings. Will probably edit this over time to get the unknowns out.
Would really like to here all 250!!

Makes my head hurt trying to think of all the songs I like. Problem I have with some of the songs is having heard them too much. I can agree with the bands but might change the songs. For example Pat Benatar's song should be All Fired Up and Heart's should be Black on Black II.

I agree! No matter what criteria one would use, you end up bending it. Also, none of my absolute favorites from Tom Petty, Allman Brothers band. These are probably not hard rock, but still. Hope some other people make comments.

Well, not being much of a hard rock girl (I knew most of the bands, but I only recognized about 30 of the songs by their titles! I can only imagine I'd know more if I heard them), I can only really help you out by letting you know that Helter Skelter and Epic are on their twice (93&218 and 117&155). My only other observation is that I don't know that I'd categorize Message in a Bottle as hard rock...but I'll leave it to the experts!
